Portfolio Guidelines
Consideration of admission to the M.F.A. program by the Department of Art and Art History Graduate Admissions Committee requires applicants to submit reproductions of original art, prepared and forwarded in accord with the following designations: Applicants interested in pursuing advanced study in Painting, Sculpture/Ceramics, Photography/Video, Printmaking, Drawing, and Illustration are required to submit 20 standard-size slide transparencies identifying examples of recent work. Contained in a plastic slide-file sheet, the slide transparencies are to be cardboard or plastic mounted without glass covers, properly masked, and labeled with typewritten or legibly printed designates of applicant's name, medium/media of work, size of work, and date of work. Each slide should be marked with a red dot in the lower left corner representing proper orientation for projection. The slide-file sheet must be accompanied by a slide list that includes the information labeled on each slide. Slides should be carefully packaged to prevent damage and should be insured by the applicant as the Department of Art and Art History cannot be held responsible for any damage thereunto at any time. Video and CD-ROMs can be submitted to supplement your slides if appropriate and should also be carefully packaged and insured if desired. Applicants must include proper self-addressed packaging and postage for return of slides and other support material. The deadline for submission of the official application form, support documents and slides to the Department of Art and Art History is February 1st, 2008.
