Olu Oguibe

Olu Oguibe graduated valedictorian at the University of Nigeria in 1986 and eventually received a Ph.D. in art history from the University of London in 1992. He previously taught at the School of Oriental and African Studies, and Goldsmiths College, University of London, as well as the University of Illinois at Chicago and the University of South Florida where he held the Stuart Golding Endowed Chair in African art. Dr. Oguibe is the author of many books and over a hundred articles, as well as an exhibiting artist whose work has been shown in museums, galleries and biennials around the world including the Smithsonian Institution, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Irish Museum of Modern Art, the Havana, Johannesburg and Busan biennials, and the latere of the Venice Biennial. He has curated exhibitions for the Tate Modern, the School of the Art Institute, Chicago, and the City Museum in Mexico City, among others. His most recent book is The Culture Game (University of Minnesota Press, 2004).
