Laurie Sloan

Laurie Sloan is an Associate Professor of Art at the University of Connecticut and has taught in the Department of Art and Art History since 1990. She received her B.F.A. degree from Miami University, Oxford, OH in 1984 and her M.F.A. degree from Tyler School of Art, Philadelphia, PA and Rome, Italy in 1986. Her work has been exhibited widely in the United States and abroad. Recent shows include “Layered Inventions” at Wright State University; “Global Matrix” at Purdue University; “Centrifugal: Ideas from Different Cultures in Print” at University of Alberta, Edmonton; and “The Boston Printmakers 2007 North American Print Biennial.” Sloan’s work has been recognized by a Connecticut Commission on the Arts Individual Artist fellowship and several juried exhibition awards. She has also been invited to participate in numerous exchange portfolios, and her work is represented in over 20 public collections, including the DeCordova Museum, MA; Bucknell University, PA; and the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, CA. Sloan has been a visiting artist at several institutions including the University of Oregon, Massachusetts College of Art and the University of Tennessee. |
